Although I don't speak a word of French, I would catch some phrase here and there:)
Just curious T&S, with how many languages you to are familiar (passively or actively)?

Hi Amir!

Teresa studied English (which she still uses now and then) and German (which she's never really used: so, now she understands something, but cannot really speak it any more) ... and just a little bit of French (which she and Stefano are "forced" to use in France: they're trying to get more and more familiar with the language, though they speak a very "personal" and "imaginative" French...).

Stefano studied French, instead.

You did not include Italian language :)

I also noticed that Stef mastered Arabic calligraphy writing, which is very complicated.
It's very amusing when you put Russian, German...etc text in character's speech bubble :)

Keep great work T&S!

Well, you know, Stefano's aunt speaks perfect Russian... and that is a great help when dealing with Russian characters ;-)

And we both are deeply in love with the Arab world and totally fascinated by the Middle-Eastm though unfortunately we can only speak 3 or 4 words of that gorgeous language :-(...

For our next graphic novel (november 2017), which is partially set in Siria (we were there in 2007), Stefano made himself calamus and ink (with gum-arabic and pigments) and decided to open each chapter with an Arab calligraphy: each chapter is a month, and the entire book lasts nine months, following Iris's pregnancy while Ismail is away.

Syria is amazing place. My wife and I spent 6 months there in 2006 working in Star Animation Studio near Damascus.

Although we don't judge people as collective, but Syrian people are one of the most hospitable once. We have nothing but great memories from there...

What happened there in last 6 years is tragic...so your Islamil project is partly a great homage for that people and land.

Just like creating boat model, Stef's calamus and ink for next project is one of those incredible tools in creating fantastic world of T&S!

That's what I call wonderful journey of storytelling!

You're right, Amir, we really felt at home there.

And we spent the last days at Deir Mar Musa Al-Habashi, where we had the chance - and the precious gift! - to meet Father Paolo, the founder of a monastery perched on the rocks in the desert 80 km from Damascus, a place where energies intertwine, where everybody's welcome, where differences of origin and faith and ways of thinking can meet and enrich each other.

It was such a powerful experience that, when in july 2013 Father Paolo was kidnapped, we strongly felt the need to write and draw this story, to tell people about the Syria we were so lucky to experience, and do our part to possibly spread Mar Musa's message a little bit farther...

Wow, I didn't know about the story of Father Paolo and his life experience.
You are doing a great human work by spreading the word about him and Mar Musa!
It seems that in life nothing is coincidence...and now we know why you met Father Paolo:)

Dear Mr. Tuconi,

this week I have read your comic in "Lustiges Taschenbuch Nr.491" in Germany. This comic is maybe the best drawn comic I know (from my Donald Duck perspective ;-) The pictures itself, the detail, the layout. Also, the harmony of the colors is amazing. Very good job, thank you!

Best regards,
André Herzog
